I will also show the way you should avoid doing it if you do not seriously wanna give poor Escaron a nervous breakdown (wich has happened all to often and wich is the reason I now post this). Here we go!!! 
The perfect extraordinaire super way to write me about a commission:
"Hi Escaron you mega awesome super artist that I worship most of all on this entire planet, I wanna grow up to be like you and-" *cough, cough* okay.... scratch that and lets take it from the beginning...

I saw you offered commission and I wonder if you could give me a price estimate on *insert object*. Here is a reference of it *insert pic/s*. I would like it to be in this size *insert*, this pose *insert* and in these kinda materials *insert* (or I want it to be a posable doll, or a full scupture in clay etc, variation works). What would you say this would cost? (totally fine to elaborate here, write some about the character if need be, discuss things, ask questions, use way better english sentence building and spelling than I do etc. If not sure of pose or material and so on just mention that and we can totally talk it over. Everything is fine~)

This way I gain a lot of info and can help quick and painless wich make me a very happy artist indeed. But now then, a lot of times it seem people are scared of me, I dunno why *glance over at all macabre dead things in my gallery*, I really dont undersand at all.
Because people write commission notes as if I would any minute throw myself at them and bite their heads of, sure I am rabid but not thaaaat bloodthristy I assure you. Not all the time at least... So theres really no need to write as if you are ready to throw yourself of your chair and run away. Promise! 
I will now give an example of a way that make this artist a very sad one;
NOTE 1; "Hi
I saw you offer commissions, do you still do that?"
NOTE 2 from me; "Hi, yes I do!"
NOTE 3; "Can you make rabbits with umbrellas that do the macarena while eating popcorn?"
NOTE 4 from me; "Yes I should be able to, as long as its not butter tasting popcorns, Im not so good with them. Do you have a size in mind, and materials? What pose are you looking for? Do you have a reference?"
NOTE 5; "I dont know of size, any is okay, and the popcorn are natural and its my OC"
NOTE 6 from me; "Okay thats fine, but what material do you want? Is it suppose to be a doll or a sculpt made entirely out of clay and can I please see a ref?"
NOTE7; "I would love it as a posable doll. But I can take a estimate for a sculpture as well."
NOTE 8 from me; "I would love to see the ref..."
NOTE 9 "His name is Sixten".

<------- okay this is not what I reply, cause that would be extremely rude, this is only how I am thinking inside while my blood is boiling over and I wanna rip my head off. 
Dont get me wrong here guys, I love talking to ya, but my time schedule is very tight and I have very much to do, and if I must drag all answers out of ya every time I am gonna give a price estimate there wont be any time for anything else. Plus it gets a taaaaaaaad annoying.
And yeah, this here above is as I hope you undersand not how the notes look
, but I often get them in the same manner - instead of recieving all info at once I need to send note after note asking for it. I dont mind discussing, absolutely not, and epsecially if you arent sure what you want, but at least I would appreciate it a lot if you gave me all the info and refs you do have and then we can take it from there. 
I am a awesome almighty person thats true, but I must sadly admit I was slacking of on the mind reading classes. Wooops. 
Sending me all info youve got at once will also help me greatly to keep track of it way easier than if I have to search for it in some 10 different notes. ^^So now when you know exactly how to send me a perfect commission note everything will be juuuuuuust dandy!!! And we can still be friends. RIGHT!?
